I am in love with our stove.

I prefer gas stoves, but recently (when we bought the house!) I met my dream electric stove.

Apparently the Westinghouse Custom Imperial was the top-of-the-line model back when it was installed. (Still have to find out when that was!) And truly, it has some features that I've never seen in newer stoves!

Let me give you a photo-tour. I also have the original paperwork and brochures, and when my scanner is up and running I'll post some cool graphics, too!

Yes, it is so clean and shiny inside, I can take a photo of my reflection! Those clips at the top are for the speed broil unit, which is basically another electric coil element you can snap in when you simply must broil in a hurry! You know what they say, "when you've gotta broil, you've gotta broil!"
"Automatic Bake and Hold"? What is that? you ask.

That is, my friends, when you can:

1. set a temperature,

2. set a time for the oven to start cooking,

3. set a time for the oven to turn off, and

4. walk away.

So essentially you shove a sheet of cookie dough in there in the morning, and greet yourself with fresh-baked cookies when you get home at the end of the day. Or any other collision of temporal and culinary shenanigans you can dream up.

Brilliant!!

The Stove in B+W glory.

It's 40" wide! Lots of workspace, just like my parents' old stove growing up. :)

Did I mention this stove has two ovens? Yes indeed! So while you're roasting your turkey on the right, you can pop in some banana bread, layer cakes, and/or snickerdoodles on the left!

(note my surprise, ha ha!)

Oh and of course each oven is individually controlled! (see below)

Oh, need to know at what temperature to cook a minute steak? Don't worry; it's written on the stove! And one of the front burners turns precisely to these various temperatures!

How nice!

The last automatic marvel is the probe thermometer.  At first we thought we were missing this crucial piece of our stove, but we found it!

So now the stove, left unattended, will cook our meat to the proper temperature and keep it there without overcooking! I think. Anyway, I'm excited!

I just like this photo :)
